"Great White sharks swim off coast of Britain"
Author Unknown
Summary:
Steve Mills, a Great White specialist tells reporters that these giant creatures are now inhabiting the coasts of Btitain. There is a shortage of the Great Whites' food supply in their natural habitat and the abundance of Mackeral near Britain attracted the sharks. Luckily these endangered beasts aren't being harmed or caught by local fisherman. The only reason this is the case is because the fisherman aren't using the right tackle. It is thought that the fisherman may have been hooking the sharks for a long time, but they just haven't had the strength to reel them in and just gave up.
Resonse:
I am worried about how this invasive species will affect the ecosystem of the Coast of Britain. I also am worried for the sharks, too. Knowing that they are an endangered species, I hope that the fisherman around those parts don't start to catch the sharks. I also wonder how the sharks' arrival will affect the Mackeral population and also the prosperity of the fisherman now that these anglers have competition.
1) What do you think will happen if the fisherman begin to catch the sharks?
2) How will the sharks' arrival affect the Mackeral population?
3)Why is the sharks' arrival a problem for fisherman in those areas?
It's nice to know that the Great White Sharks allowed to have a habitat for them to live and having food to eat. I hope they still alive and be able to thrive in the Coast of Britatin. Also I hope the fishermen don't try to catch the sharks. However I hope the Mackerals' population doesn't decrease because of the introduced species of Great White Sharks in their native home. The food chain should remain balanced so that both species can live well, maybe the scientists can research this case and preserve both of these species.
ReplyDelete1) The sharks' population will decrease and many sharks will be caught and not be able to thrive in their new habitat.

I actually feel bad for the sharks because they came to the area only because there were not enough food. I hope they can reproduce and not have any problem in the area. I also hope that they don't get caught by the fisherman in the future. It is a good thing that the fishermem try not to catch sharks. Hopefully it will stay that way and so the sharks will not become a major problem. The scientists should find a way to keep both of the species preserved. If the sharks are a problem, I hope they don't kill them off.
ReplyDelete1. The sharks' arrival will affect the Mackerel population negatively because a lot more will be eaten. Also, they will be caught by fishermen too. They will have to adapt some how and reproduce.
This is a link to a picture of a Great White Shark in Britain, invading the area.It is also a sighting of one in Britain. It is swimming next to a pod of Dolphins.

I feel bad for the sharks because they ran out of food and had to go somewhere else to get food. They had to go to a whole new habitat just to find food. I also feel bad for the Mackerel because they are going to get eaten by the sharks. This issue is causing a lot of problems for the sharks and Mackerel.
ReplyDelete2. The arrival of the sharks is going to decrease the population of Mackerel. The whole reason why the sharks went to the coast of Britain was because they were attracted to the Mackerel. The population of Mackerel is going to decrease because of the arrival of the Great White Shark.
It is surprising that the Great White sharks made it all the way to Great Britain. They are not the first type of fish I would think of for that area. I am concerned for the fishermen though. If a fishermen is over a huge school of Mackerel, a Great White shark might either get injured by the fishermen or will hurt the fishermen by accident. It is just an accident waiting to happen with the sharks there. Maybe we could try to make their natural food reproduce faster so the sharks will go back to where they are originally from.
ReplyDelete1. If the Great White sharks are beginning to get caught by the fishermen, then they will be more endangered than they already are. Also, the fish population will go up. It is a tough decision to make whether to capture or not to capture the sharks.
Here is a link to another article on the Great White sharks. In the article, they discuss the possibility for sharks to have lived in the water for thousands of years.
